The bullet itself does not include the casing, which was depicted here as being white. The primer, which is the part in the back and center of the casing, should've had a pencil-point-sized dent in it, signifying that the gun's firing pin hit it. The bullet, that gray part, would've been the only thing flying out of the gun. It also would've been spinning, as modern guns are always rifled save for shotguns, which fire hundreds of tiny lead balls, commonly referred to as "shot," hence shot-gun.

Still a good game, though. Wierd thing is, if you don't go through the quest, he'll attack you eventually anyways, depending on whether you've paid him or not. Also, if you go to him and not pay him enough times, he'll try to kill you.
